The tragic death of Jayland Walker, a 25-year-old Black man shot by police in Akron, Ohio, has led to a significant settlement for his family.

The family of Jayland Walker, a 25-year-old fatally shot by police in Akron, Ohio in June 2022, has reached a $4.85 million settlement with the city of Akron in a federal lawsuit over Walker’s death.

Jayland Walker was shot 46 times by police after he fled law enforcement and fired a bullet out of his car window in 2022.

The family had filed a lawsuit against the Ohio city and its police department after Mr. Walker was fatally shot by eight police officers in 2022.
