A grandfather who had been jailed for his part in a riot against asylum seekers who he had called “child killers” has been found dead in prison.

Lynch was jailed for two years and eight months after body-worn camera footage was shown to the court of him screaming “you are protecting people who are killing our kids and raping them” and “scum” at police with riot shields.

Peter Lynch, 61, was serving two years and eight months after he pleaded guilty to being part of the unrest at the Holiday Inn Express in Rotherham on 4 August. He shouted "racist and provocative remarks" towards officers and called asylum seekers in the hotel "child killers",
