Costco is recalling smoked salmon products over possible listeria contamination. Listeria is a bacteria that contaminates foods and can cause listeriosis, which is the third-leading cause of death from foodborne illness in the US. Listeria can spread in food processing facilities, according to the US Center for Disease Controls and Prevention.

This recall comes soon after Costco recalled certain chicken products over listeria concerns. Those recalls were part of a wider recall of ready-to-eat poultry that affected certain products sold at stores nationwide including Aldi, Walmart, Target, Giant Eagle, HEB, Trader Joe’s and Kroger.

TreeHouse Foods Inc., which recalled certain waffle products last week over listeria concerns, has expanded the warning to cover to all products manufactured at one facility.
