It was recently reported that Ubisoft disbanded the team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown shortly after releasing its Mask of Darkness DLC. Developers of that team ended up splintering off into different projects.

The original Rayman is the game that put Ubisoft on the map. It’s been over a decade since the last installment in the colorful platformer franchise, but the French publisher is currently in the “early stages” of exploring what will come next for the series’ titular limbless hero.

The Rayman franchise may be coming back. Following rumors of a remake, Ubisoft has confirmed that two studios in early stages of developing a new Rayman project.

The Lost Crown are reportedly working on a Rayman’s remake. The secret codename for the project is “Project Steamboat” which is being handled by the team in Ubisoft Milan. According to Insider Gaming sources,

Ubisoft has reportedly moved the developers of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown onto new projects, including Beyond Good and Evil 2, the next Ghost Recon, and an unannounced Rayman remake. This week it emerged that Ubisoft has disbanded the team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown after the Metroidvania reportedly failed to meet sales expectations.
