A coalition including IATSE, the Directors Guild of America, the Teamsters and the Writers Guild of America is gearing up to fight for proposed expansions to the tax incentives program.

To address the flight of productions to other states and countries, legislators are proposing bills that they say will make it more attractive to film in California.

California lawmakers unveiled legislation Wednesday to increase the state's incentive for film and TV production.

Some Connecticut lawmakers, along with advocates from the United Way of Connecticut, want to establish a $600 child tax credit for up to three children per family. The plan would phase in at $150 per child and work its way up.

Two bills were introduced Wednesday aimed at strengthening the current film and tax credit program in California, this follows Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement this past fall to more than double the annual tax incentive cap to $750 million a year.
