“SNL50: The Anniversary Special” was a nostalgia-inducing review of half a century of laughs. The star-studded live broadcast featured some of the show’s most beloved recurring characters and skits, from Debbie Downer to Domingo. Just like any episode of “SNL,” the three-hour show had some standout moments and some forgettable ones.

McKinnon resurrected her chain-smoking Mrs. Rafferty, appearing alongside Pedro Pascal and Woody Harrelson to recount an alien encounter to government officials played by Aidy Bryant and Jon Hamm. McKinnon’s character also introduced her mom, played by Meryl Streep.
