There is no official date for the popular country music awards in 2025. A pause has been put in place for several Paramount awards shows, including the CMTs, while the company negotiates its Skydance Media merger.

It was announced that the 2025 CMT Awards have been canceled. Officially the show is on a “pause” because parent company, Paramount Global, has agreed to a merger with Skydance Media and the deal won’t close for another couple months.

The CMT Awards won’t air in 2025. In fact, country’s biggest night is one of several major award shows that were cancelled this year. The Hollywood Reporter reports how the ceremony — along with the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choices Awards Mexico and the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) — was a casualty of Paramount Global’s merger with David Ellison’s Skydance Media.
