An 28-year-old Austin man was convicted of kidnapping a 25-year-old woman, then dumping her body in the woods in Pittsburg, Texas.

A young woman’s life was cut tragically short, her last moments likely spent in terror,” Acting U.S. Attorney Chad Meacham said.

Family members have identified the victim as 25-year-old Caleigha Zangari, a U.S. Army veteran from California. They say at some point she became a victim of human trafficking and ended up in Dallas as a sex worker.
