Coinbase Global on Tuesday renewed its call for U.S. banking regulators to clarify or revise their position on banks offering cryptocurrency services as well as potentially doing tie-ups with companies in the digital assets sector.

Coinbase is demanding US regulators finally let banks jump into the crypto industry. The company sent letters to top financial agencies today—the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Reserve,

Banks that pursued crypto “were almost universally met with resistance” from the FDIC, the agency’s acting chair, Travis Hill, said Wednesday.

During a separate Senate Banking Committee hearing on Wednesday, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), known for her critical stance on crypto, expressed that the industry should not be barred from the banking system. Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder of Anchorage Digital, testified at this hearing and received Warren's support.

Coinbase Global Inc. is urging US banking regulators to clarify or amend their positions in order to allow banks to offer custody and trading execution services for cryptocurrencies as well as clear the path for them to partner with the likes of Coinbase.
