EA's Origin app for PC gaming will shut down in April
EA's Origin PC client has officially reached the end of the line. The gaming company had previously announced its plans to rebrand the Origin app for desktop players back in 2020 and began rolling out the new EA app in 2022.

EA has announced that it will be shutting down its Origin service on PC and Mac, and that players with 32-bit operating systems will lose access to their libraries if they don’t upgrade. In a pair of statements posted on its EA Help support page, the publisher informs players that Origin will be terminated on April 17 for both PC and Mac users.

Now, however, EA has said Origins will no longer be available come 17th April. The reason for the shut down is that “Microsoft has stopped supporting 32-bit software”. As such, users will have to download the EA app but the publisher notes that this requires a 64-bit version of Windows and, naturally, hardware that supports 64-bit software.
