Most school districts in the Puget Sound and Western Washington were open Friday, including Seattle Public Schools, after intermittent closures during the week.

The Puget Sound area will get a brief break from wintry precipitation Friday with partly sunny skies expected for the afternoon.

Temperatures early Friday will be well below freezing, into the mid 20s. But during the day it will get to the low 40s out on the coast and upper 30s elsewhere.

The National Weather Service recorded about an inch of snow at its Seattle office from the overnight precipitation, with another chance for showers before 10 a.m.
