KEOKUK, Iowa — An overnight fire did major damage to a Keokuk apartment complex. The blaze at the Highlyn Apartments at 203 Washington Street in Keokuk was reported around 2 a.m. Tuesday. Keokuk Firefighter John Symmonds said the building consists of 12 apartments, which were all occupied. All 26 tenants made it out safely.
The Lee County Narcotics Task Force reports the arrest of a Keokuk man on felony and misdemeanor drug charges.
NEAR ALEXANDRIA, Mo. — A southeast Iowa pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Missouri. The tragedy happened around 3:45 p.m. Friday on Highway 136, between Alexandria, Missouri, and Keokuk, Iowa, one-half mile south of the Iowa state line.
