Over the years, Akina has built an impressive resume. After leaving the Longhorns in 2013, he joined the Stanford coaching staff as a defensive backs coach and spent nine seasons with the Cardinals. He has spent the last two years at Arizona filling various roles. He started as an analyst before moving to defensive coordinator this past season.
While it didn't go down how he wanted, Mack Brown has made peace with his departure from North Carolina in 2024. Living back in Austin, Texas -- where he famously led Texas to a national title in 2005 -- Brown made the trip north to Fort Worth to accept the Davey O'Brien Legends Award on Monday.
