CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) – Every school district in West Virginia was closed or had remote learning again Tuesday after the state was dumped with its first major, statewide snowstorm of the season on Monday, but just how much accumulation did cities across the state get?

The D.C. area is seeing mild temperatures Saturday ahead of snow expected Sunday. Winter storm warnings and watches are in effect starting Sunday morning.

One of the regions hit the hardest in Monday’s storm was south of Pittsburgh in Morgantown, West Virginia, where the area was expecting more than nine inches of snow. They were getting the most they’d seen in a long time,

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has declared a state of emergency for all 55 West Virginia counties due to a winter storm that hit the state, leaving roads icy and thousands without electricity.

Projected snowfall totals have increased as a fast-moving Nor’easter nears the region, with some locations now expected to see as much as a foot of accumulation.Snowfall will begin in the central Appalachians and parts of Virginia

Extreme cold watches issued by NWS meteorologists are currently in place in parts of Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. Extreme cold warnings are in place in Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.
