Interstate 80 in Nebraska has reopened after being closed for more than 14 hours as a blizzard moved through the Midwest.
The sponsor of a bill (LB3) making Nebraska a winner-take-all state said a legislative committee will meet Monday to consider sending the measure to the floor for debate.
The funeral service began at 11 a.m., where friends, family and state officials remembered McAcy. The Nebraska State Patrol’s entire stream of the funeral can be found on the agency’s YouTube page. McAcy, 31, was killed on Feb. 17 when he was hit by a snowplow while responding to a crash on Interstate 80 near Ashland.
The measure (LR22CA) from Sen. George Dungan would enshrine the right to "pure water, clean air, healthy soils, balanced ecosystems" and a safe climate in the state constitution.
Gary Petersen with the Seward County Emergency Management Agency said his office typically gets reports from NOAA four days in advance. That helps them plan for severe weather before it happens. With the changes, the emergency management agency is trying to adjust to the possibility of getting them less often.
