The San Francisco 49ers drafted former Michigan football cornerback Ambry Thomas in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Thomas started for the mighty San Francisco defense before he suffered a fractured right forearm and was unable to play in 2024 -- the 49ers cut him.

The offensive line is a big area of focus for the Michigan football team this offseason, and getting a starter to come back is big. Giovanni El-Hadi has a lot of experience, and he earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors this season. He was a very important player on offense and that experience is needed next year.

Though not a household name, Michigan managed to reel in UMass wide receiver Anthony Simpson who will come in as a grad transfer. Simpson only appeared in two games in 2024 but had 57 catches for 792 yards in 2023, showing he could be a leading wideout when tasked and healthy.
