A winter storm had blanketed much of Arkansas in snow by Thursday evening while leaving residents in southern parts of the state coping with a mix of ice and rain.

Storm Watch been posted for a large part of Arkansas. This Watch will likely become a Winter Storm Warning as we get closer to the onset of precipitation Thursday. All of the state should see some type of winter precipitation late this week with major travel problems expected.

An updated winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 3:40 a.m. valid for Sunday between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. for Western Chester, Eastern Chester, Western Montgomery,
