A former Orange County deputy who is accused of killing his wife, a lieutenant in the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, and trying to stage her death to look like a suicide had been accused of threatening his ex-wife more than a decade ago,

Anthony Shea, an 18-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, resigned from his post as sergeant in August in the middle of an investigation into accusations that would have resulted in his firing, according to the sheriff’s office and an arrest affidavit.

Anthony Shea is accused of fatally shooting Eloilda “Ellie” Shea, his estranged spouse. The two had worked at the same sheriff’s office in Florida.
