Scott Turner was confirmed Wednesday as the housing secretary, a role central to President Donald Trump’s domestic agenda at a time when most Americans say the cost of living around necessities are a top concern.

Scott Turner, former NFL player and Texas politician, was confirmed as HUD Secretary by the Senate, with a mostly party-line vote. Scott Turner was confirmed as the Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary on Wednesday.

The Senate voted 55-44 to confirm North Texas native Scott Turner as leader of HUD, and he was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
