With the advent of car insurance scams, dash cams have become a popular buy. In New York, a dash cam owner learns just how important a purchase it was when a would-be insurance fraudster attempts to cause a car crash.

In the video, the backseat passengers can be seen trying to put a covering on the back window as the driver climbs over into the front passenger seat before getting out of the car and pretending to be injured.

A Queens, New York, woman alleged that a road collision on Wednesday, Oct. 16, involving her car and another vehicle captured on dash cam video was staged as part of an insurance scam. Ashpia Natasha posted the footage of the incident on her TikTok that has since generated 66 million views as of Tuesday,

Police are investigating the incident, saying this is insurance fraud and is happening more often around the country.
