Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling state lawmakers into a special session to help carry out President-elect Donald Trump’s promises for a swift crackdown on immigration.

TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Ron DeSantis has called for a special legislative session to address immigration issues, hurricane recovery, condominium problems and the ballot initiative process. The governor announced the session on Monday, it will be held the week of Jan. 27.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling lawmakers back to Tallahassee later this month for a special session to help boost President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration agenda. DeSantis, during a news conference at the state Capitol on Monday, said Florida needed to help Trump’s expected “ambitious policy changes” on immigration enforcement.

DeSantis called upon the Florida Legislature to convene a special session to prepare for sweeping immigration policies once Donald Trump takes office.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Monday morning he is calling state legislators back to Tallahassee at the end of January for a special session.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has called a Special Session starting Jan. 27 to take up legislation cracking down on illegal immigration.

Speaking in Tallahassee this morning, DeSantis said, “We are going to need - in order to do that - legislation to impose additional duties, and provide funding for those local officials.”
