Ireland is experiencing a much-needed thaw after a week of subzero temperatures, with the mercury set to rise by a remarkable 21C. However, Met Eireann has issued a new warning to areas still covered in snow.

A fresh yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for parts of Northern Ireland from Wednesday afternoon until Thursday morning. The warning is in place for counties Antrim, Londonderry, Fermanagh, and Tyrone from 16:00 GMT until 11:00 GMT.

There is the potential for disruption across Northern Ireland as snow descends across the country. The Met Office has forecast hail, sleet and snow showers across parts of Northern Ireland this evening which could bring disruption to travel.
