Aug 28, 2014 · Going from Allentown, PA to Myrtle Beach, SC via I-81 and I-74 (which is a better choice than I-77 which goes further south to Charlotte) is anywhere from 1.5 - 2 hours longer than taking I-95 South.

Apr 9, 2006 · A lot of drivers to WDW from the northeast prefer taking I-81 and working their way over to I-95 to get around the DC-Baltimore-Philly corridor. I-81 is mountainous and definitely a much more scenic and rural route than I-95.

Mar 31, 2007 · I-66 is fine between I-81 and Route 17, very minimal (if any) road construction. Traffic will be heavy during rush hour but should move steadily at posted speeds. Route 17 from I-66 to I-95 is all 4 lane with some stop lights but they don't slow traffic appreciably.

Sep 4, 2018 · Yes, Google Maps shows the 81 route being about an hour longer from Montreal. Ran it with both the 1000 Islands crossing or taking I-87 south (easier access from the South Shore) and crossing over to I-81 on either 88 or 84.
