Jun 24, 2021 · Edit: I used the Windows 11 Pro ISO from Microsoft on it and had no issues. I have Windows 11 Pro running on a Surface Pro 3. I upgraded a Surface Laptop 3 and cloned using Maceium Reflect. I then restored the image to the Surface Pro 3.

Jun 20, 2021 · Upgraded my Surface 3 to the retail windows 11 pro. Used the install method that uses Widows 10 install but the windows 11 files. I had no install issues. All drivers work fine. Windows 11 runs great and performance is good. Install took a while. But was done in one evening. Nice to get more life out of this Surface 3 tablet.

Jun 16, 2021 · The OP installed a preview build, which allows install on Unsupported PCs. Once the official versions are released from Microsoft they will not install on PCs that do not meet the minimum hardware requirements. The Surface Pro 3 does not meet the minimum hardware requirements. Microsoft may modify these requirements though, so crossing fingers.

Oct 9, 2023 · Id jump up to a sp5 8gb $150~ ebay and use rufus to get win11 into it (windows 11 doesn't support sp5 or older , but you can unofficially squeeze it in). Or officially supported win11 = sp6 8gb $250~ eBay.

Mar 2, 2023 · I’ve got a surface pro 4, Windows 11 definitely seems to run better (snappier, more responsive, better battery life, etc) than windows 10. Windows 11 gave that ole sucker a new lease on life. I would likely stop using the computer if they eventually kick me out of the insider program and force me back to windows 10.

Jun 18, 2022 · Web browsing with 5 or 6 active tabs is an OK experience where as in 10 even 2 Edge tabs was slow. UWP apps perform better and so do WIN32 apps. I still wouldn't recommend anyone buy a Surface 3 even if it's cheap but if you've got one installing Windows 11 will be an excellent useability upgrade.

May 9, 2023 · There is no problem running Windows 11 on devices having an incompatible CPU (such as your Surface Pro 5) as long as they meet the baseline security requirements for having Secure Boot and a TPM. All Surface devices from the Pro 3 on do so, I believe. I'm running Windows 11 right now on my 2015 Surface Book (6th gen Core i7).
